Art in Cooenhagen - yes, i love it!

                             

Det desiderte kunsthøydepunktet i København var Hilma af Klint (1862-1944) på Louisiana. Wow!

 

I had a great day at Louisiana, museum of modern art. My main goal for the weekend trip was the Hilma af Klint exhibition, but there were plenty of other colourful highlights as well.

               

Emil Nolde (1867-1956)-utstillingen var også omfattende - og jeg hadde allerede vært noen timer sammen med Hilma, og jammen et par timer med Philip Guston (1913-1980) også, når jeg kom hit. For meg var Noldes sterkeste arbeider de koloristiske - her er et par detaljer. Og jammen fant jeg en god match i disse brosjene i museumsbutikken. Herlig!

Utsikt gjennom Henry Moores skulptur

...og fortsetter... // ...stripe mania never ends...

I en av de mange boksene og permene jeg har ryddet i de siste ukene, fant jeg igjen disse to postkortene - kjøpt på min første interrail sommeren 1989, som i grunn var en eneste lang kunsthistorisk reise. Blant annet med stopp på museet for abstrakt kunst i Cuenca, Spania. Kortene viser to bilder av kunstneren Eusebio Sempere, og originalene er gouache på papir. Ganske artig å se i sammenheng med min stripebesettelse 25 år senere :o)

 

In one of the many boxes and binders I've cleared over the last few weeks, I found these postcards - bought on my first backpacking/Interrail the summer of 1989. This was actually a 3,5 week long art historical journey. One of the more than 20 museums I visited was the Museum of Abstract Art in Cuenca, Spain. The cards show two works of the artist Eusebio Sempere, and the originals are gouache on paper. Good fun to see them in the context of my stripe obsession 25 years later: o)

The Magic Dress on March 8th

Finally; the story about The Magic Dress, as advertised in this post! And what better day to celebrate a great woman like Grete Smedal, and my own aspirations to be one. The Magic Dress will be the perfect outfit for greatness! Above, The Magic Dress itself, hanging prettily in my studio/guestroom window. A few weeks ago it hung (almost) equally pretty in the window of Klesskapet (a second hand shop) in Skostredet, Bergen - shouting my name load and clear, begging me to come in and try it on, as it was obviously made for me (and who knows for how long it had been there, longing and waiting for us to meet?). I had no doubt at all, as she - The Magic Dress - appeared less than 24 hours after my very inspiring and colour/pattern/form-oriented meeting with Grete Smedal. Read on, read on!

...from my colour study binder... Grete Smedals excellent classes really boosted my interest in colour as a visual phenomenon and the exhilarating mysteries of perception. I collected all the exercises in a binder that has been dear and useful to me ever after, as a mini reference book. I am soooo grateful for being her student (yes, I still consider myself a student of hers) and for her being my informal mentor through my degree studies in Textile Art at SHKD/KHiB. Her teaching methods have even been a great inspiration to me as a college teacher, and my binder has been very useful in so many ways. The methods still applies and has even been updated through her latest developement; the Chromascope! I can´t wait to dig into this amazing program! To me there is an obvious yet intricate pattern (choice of word totally coincidental...?) in this story - and The Magic Dress waiting for me in the second hand shop perfectly illustrates that divine connections are all around us, ready to savour :o)

Hvil vingene & unn deg litt pynt... Rest your wings & indulge in finery...

These photos are from sweet Carinas day spa, called Hvil vingene ("Rest the wings"). My jewellery (postal stamp based pieces with silver and semi precious stones) and bags are on display there right now, and the prices will be 30-50 % reduced all February. By guiding you to my newly established homepage/blog I am now going public! The timing is as good as any; Østlandsutstillingen 2009 opened on May 9th and I am represented by one piece of jewellery.

I won the Pillow Fight! - Hjemmeseier i Putekrigen!

Her kommer omsider en relativt veldokumentert grunn til at det ikke har vært aktivitet på bloggen på noen uker. Det har heller ikke vært store strikkeaktiviteten disse ukene, fordi alle ledige stunder (les: sene nattetimer inkludert) har blitt benyttet til å sy puter (fortrinnsvis ikke til bruk under armene...). 2. desember åpnet en utstilling jeg deltar på, og her viser jeg 15 puter. De er i all hovedsak laget av stoffer jeg selv har vevet, farget og/eller trykket. 10 av putene måler 50x 50 cm, de siste fem måler 40 x 40. Her er et litt tilfeldig utvalg bilder (trøbbel med å laste opp bilder på Blogger), men man kan likevel se at jeg hovedsaklig arbeider med to fargegrupper. For de fleste av dere blir det "se, men ikke røre" - håper dere liker det dere ser :o) So this is what kept me so busy the latest couple of weeks... No knitting time, only sewing time until the 1st of December, as I participate in an exhebition that opened on the 2nd. I show 15 cushions mostly made from my own fabrics (fabrics I have woven, dyed or/and printed). 10 of them measure 50 x 50 cm, the last five measure 40 x 40 cm. I did not succeed uploading all my photos so these are a random selection. As you can see I work with two main colour schemes. I hope you enjoy looking as touching is not an option for most of you ;o)
