These sheets of paper make me so happy! The cool, fun, pretty, elegant, colourful pattered paper at Papirgalleriet needs no further comments.

Pretty patterned paper

I have no idea why, but it has been impossible to upload photos around here. I´ve been trying for more than a week, and it still did not work. VERY annoying. My not-so-frequent posting is bad enough - rare posting with no photos is useless. So this is such a happy day - Blogger is back in photo-business! Here we go with some pretty paper goodies from Papirgalleriet in Oslo. If the photo uploading still works, there will be more patterns soon :o)

The Magic Dress on March 8th

Finally; the story about The Magic Dress, as advertised in this post! And what better day to celebrate a great woman like Grete Smedal, and my own aspirations to be one. The Magic Dress will be the perfect outfit for greatness! Above, The Magic Dress itself, hanging prettily in my studio/guestroom window. A few weeks ago it hung (almost) equally pretty in the window of Klesskapet (a second hand shop) in Skostredet, Bergen - shouting my name load and clear, begging me to come in and try it on, as it was obviously made for me (and who knows for how long it had been there, longing and waiting for us to meet?). I had no doubt at all, as she - The Magic Dress - appeared less than 24 hours after my very inspiring and colour/pattern/form-oriented meeting with Grete Smedal. Read on, read on!

A classic Arabic pattern - as seen on The Magic Dress 2011

...my 1993 version in an art book project at KHiB (former SHKD)

...from my colour study binder... Grete Smedals excellent classes really boosted my interest in colour as a visual phenomenon and the exhilarating mysteries of perception. I collected all the exercises in a binder that has been dear and useful to me ever after, as a mini reference book. I am soooo grateful for being her student (yes, I still consider myself a student of hers) and for her being my informal mentor through my degree studies in Textile Art at SHKD/KHiB. Her teaching methods have even been a great inspiration to me as a college teacher, and my binder has been very useful in so many ways. The methods still applies and has even been updated through her latest developement; the Chromascope! I can´t wait to dig into this amazing program! To me there is an obvious yet intricate pattern (choice of word totally coincidental...?) in this story - and The Magic Dress waiting for me in the second hand shop perfectly illustrates that divine connections are all around us, ready to savour :o)

Shetland Shadows

The bumps and repeating pattern of the Shetland Triangle makes a beutiful, tactile surface just as they are - and the different light in the pictures tell totally different stories about the colour of the yarn. The TRUE colour is something in between. I am still determined to block this baby though. Just have to wait until Sunday as I don´t want to risk that our guest bed isn´t dry when our guests arrive on Saturday ;o)

Pre Digital Fish Jacket and More

This is the before mentioned Fish Jacket. It was finished in January 2005. It was eagerly and warmly welcomed and has been a favourite garments since. Design and pattern: My own. Yarn: Falk from Dale, mostly. I think I chose the brown yarn from another brand to make sure I got the exact right deep brown hue.

Koselig når ulla begynner å tove seg litt inni nevene I posted pictures of the hat and mittens some time during December, and here they are again, with the jacket. These little garments are worn more or less every day, and it is starting to show. It´s so nice when the wool is felting a bit in the palms of the mittens

...a time for receiving

Wendy sent us a heap of presents, and this is one of them: delicious Irish Cream flavoured coffee. I mix 1/4 of it with 3/4 ordinary ground coffee which giveses a yummy hint of Irish Cream. When the box is all empty I will still enjoy and admire it´s good looks, and it will serve as a container for different sorts of small craft related items.

Irene gave me these beautiful handmade notebooks, made from handmade paper

This is what Kari gave me: Supplies for the Department of Glitter and Glam! A girl can never get too much of beads and sequins, or what?

It´s a bit quiet on this blog nowadays - I am still alive, though! But I am on the sick list, and a high temperature (not fiberfeber, I am afraid) has kept me from knitting and blogging for several days. Anyway; these are photos of things I made! The hat Double falk from Dale) is new, made to match the zip-up cardigan and mittens (single Falk)I made last winter. Pattern and design: my own. Maybe I´ll post a photo of the cardigan too?

Feedback

Jeanette i Danmark, takk for kommentar!

Thank you for your comment, Jeanette in Denmark! I do hope you´re in here to check on updates because here are my answers for your questions. Not very good answers, but still... To be honest I didn´t quite notice the prices of these sheets of paper - I was and too busy admiring them and taking pictures of them. I don´t know if you can mail order stuff from this shop, but here is a link to the Norway Designs-shop in Oslo, and also the link to the paper department called Papirgalleriet. You can find contact details and such on these pages :o)

Goodies!

A few days ago I went to Oslo for my job. The weather was beautiful - a perfect day for walking from shop to shop to collect inspiration! The pictures are from Norway Designs, one of my favourite shops in Oslo. The paper/bookbinding department is a real treat to the senses, and it as almost impossible not to spend money there... These are pretty notebooks, agendas etc.

Mer papir - more paper

Utrolig nydelig håndlaget og håndtrykket papir! Kan nesten forveksles med silkebrokade... sukk! Så vakkert!

Look at this incredibly beautiful handmade and handprinted paper! It could almost be mistaken for silk brocade...

Cirkeline is done - and gone!

Front

Here she is, the pretty Cirkeline! The yarn is already mentioned; alpaca from Du store alpakka. Design and pattern is my own, so I´m not sure what size this garment ended up as - maybe 2-4 months? The "size" of the cute recipient is only 3 weeks and I saw her for the first time yesterday. She is soooooooooooooooooooooooo beautiful!

Detail of trimmings

Buttons with girls... Please interpret the yellow yarn as tiny scarves - not as rope!!!

Then, what´s next? Well... in theory all my UFO´s will benefit from me finishing - with some degree of success, even - Cirkeline. But this is just a theory, and not even a good one. Absolutely not a probable one! It´s much more likely I will start a cat bed for Gimli, keep making christmas gifts and even start a shawl or scarf for my self, using this great Secret pal gift:
