Dominoshawl - again
- Garn: børstet ull
- Total mengde: 200 g
- Yarn: ca 200 g of brushed heavyweight wool
- Needles: 10 mm + 5 mm for the pointed two colour edging
- Cast on: 25 stitches
- Width: ca 180 cm
- Length (from necline and down): ca 95 cm
Vivian Høxbro´s book "Dominostrikk" was after years of neglectance finally pulled out from the bookshelf. The technique was studied and tested, and my verdict was: addictive! And fun! And easy! Not least; weaving in ends as you knit and joining the squares together also by knitting is very good news for lazy (or to flatter myself; rational) me! Anyway, in this specific project I ended up working each square separately as I didn´t know how long each colour would last. Taking the trouble of seaming afterwards meant I could play with the organizing of my squares to find a nice design.
The sketches and photos below show different ways of joining together the squares. The photos show the start of another dominoproject - hopefully these ragged patches will materialize into an afgahn some day... I use smaller needles on this one, to make a more solid and compact fabric to prevent ripping stitches.

Grannysquares
A big drawback about these cute patches is all the ends that needs weaving in, especially if you work with many colours. Since I am such a lazy girl, I decided there has to be a better way. The conclusion: pull the ends along when you change colour and weave them in as you crochet. The ends will be partly visible on the back, but more or less invisible on the front - and that´s what counts, right?? Yet again I have picked yarn from my stash. Medium weight alpaca this time, probably ending up as a scarf.
